Ideally, a woman should schedule an appointment annually with her gynaecologist in order to maintain a good feminine health. However, the reality is sad. Females often tend to run away from seeing a gynaecologist. Maybe it happens because it is challenging for her to come over her shyness, embarrassment or anxiety. However, it’s important that females learn about the significance of a gynae. They should know when to see a gynae.
Avoiding a regular check-up with gynae is not a big deal if all the things are going well. However, if your body sends you some alarming signals, then you can’t afford to shun away from a gynae. Top distress signals that warrant an opinion from your gynaecologist are:
- Intense pain in abdomen area: When you feel sudden and severe belly pain, you must consult your gynae. It could be a hint of a ruptured ovarian cyst, premature pregnancy or fluid in your douglas pouch etc.
- Aberrant vaginal discharge: Though odourless and white cloudy vaginal discharge is normal, if you see any change in odour and its colour you need an expert’s advice because it can be an indication of vaginal infection.
- Irregular menstrual cycle: If your monthly cycles are irregular or you experience postmenopausal bleeding or your periods last for more than a week and that too with heavy bleeding, you should consult with the specialist. This because your menstrual health is the indication of your reproductive health. It tells a lot about your health.
- Lump(s) in the breast: Females are advised to do a monthly self-examination of their breast because every woman is at risk of breast cancer. So, if you see any new mass or lump during this examination, it’s the time that you visit your gynae. Afterall, early diagnosis is the only best way to fight against it.
Ladies, if your body is giving you any of the above signals, it is the high time that you seek an expert’s advice.
