Obstetrics and Gynecology are two different specialities within medical science that deals with the problems of female reproductive organs. The discussion goes way long when one tries to differentiate the specifications of both the aspects.
Obstetrics is the branch of medicine which deals with the care of expectant mothers or pregnant women, her unborn child, the labour, delivery, and the period post delivery of the baby. The person who does this study is further designated as an obstetrician; they take care of the mother and her child as well and ensure no complications occurs pre-delivery or post-delivery. This is known as prenatal care which is accomplished by the Obstetrician following the needful procedures safely within stipulated time. They ensure a healthy transition of both the mother and the baby into their usual routine life after delivery is done.
Gynecology is a different, yet deal with females. It deals with the complications occurring in the reproductive organs such as, fallopian tubes, cervix, uterus, vagina, and ovaries. They also deal with the diseases related to bladder, bowel, and urinary system as they are the almost parts of female reproductive organs. A gynecologist also diagnose into the matters pf prolapse of the pelvic organs. All the ailments concerning reproductive system is constituted in the term Gynecology. This is a condition usually present in women postmenopause who have weak pelvic muscles that is not capable of supporting uterus or bladder properly.
